Sydney- Weltstadt mit coolem Flair

Sydney-auf diese Stadt war ich neugierig wie auf keine zweite. Zugleich bekam zwei Tage vor meiner Ankunft dort, über meine Freundin Brigitte, Kontakt zu Nicole, die in Sydney lebt und mit der ich gleich am zweiten Abend eine Sause durch die Stadt mache. Mit ihr und durch sie lerne ich die leichte Lebensart der Aussi‘s in Sydney kennen, wir hatten keine Mühe uns zu verstehen. Sie führte mich zu „The Rocks“, dorthin wo der Ursprung Sydney‘s ist, oder besser war, den es sind nur noch Rudimente übrig. Ein Museum, in einem der alten Häuser dort, gibt Zeugnis zu Entstehung und Niedergang von „The Rocks“. Das besucht einen Tag später.

Unser Rundgang durch das abendliche imposante Hafengelände mit der berühmten Brücke, der noch berühmteren Oper und einem Kleinkunsttheater in den Räumen der früheren Hafenarbeiter-Wohngebäuden, mit Kneipenbesuch und unterhaltsamen Tischgenossen, war ein Hochgenuss.

Dazu kamen das Treffen mit Julia, die ich in Melbourne kennengelernt hatte sowie eine Stadtführung zu den „alten“ Gebäuden, Hospital, Stadtverwaltung, Monumenten wichtiger Persönlichkeiten, alles so um 1850 herum.

Am Sonntag eine Hafenrundfahrt zur Manlybeach vorbei am berühmten Opernhaus, das seine dem Meer zugewandten Seiten jetzt zeigt, sodass man einen rundum Blick dieses architektonischen Meisterwerks bekommt. Ob von der Sonne beleuchtet oder in Nachtillumination, von Land oder dem riesigen Hafen aus betrachtet, die Oper ist das Herzstück Sydneys. Ich kann mich kaum sattsehen an ihr. Unbedingt möchte ich mir eine Vorstellung dort ansehen um auch den Innenraum in Augenschein zu nehmen.

Den Innenraum!? Es gibt hier mehrere Innenräume, mehrere Säle und Bars, Foyers, die Bar direkt am Hafen, die als Wartebereich vor der Veranstaltung angemessen Raum bietet, ist der Clou.

Ich buche eine Ballettvorstellung des Australienballetts, „Coppelia“ ein klassisches Stück. Es ist ein meisterlicher Spitzentanz, vor dörflichem Bühnenbild wechselnd mit einer Zauberwerkstatt und in einer Märchengeschichte. Da hat sich wiedermal ein Traum erfüllt mit diesem Opernbesuch. Jede Opernvorstellung muss hier ein Hightlight sein.

Sollte der derzeit weltbeste Tenor Jonas Kaufmann einmal hier singen, wüsste ich wie entscheiden würde!

 Manlybeach, ist wie die Bondybeach, die ich ebenfalls besuche, eine der zahlreichen feinen, weißsandigen Buchten um Sydney herum, zu denen die badefreudigen Sydney’s, auch Touristen strömen um sich in die schäumenden Wellen des blauen Meeres zu stürzen.

Eine kleine bittere Pille gibt es allerdings, häufig gibt es die sehr unangenehmen, schmerzhaften Yellyfish, die blauen Quallen dort. Auch Stinger, eine kleine fast unsichtbare Quallenart gibt es an der ganzen Ostküste, weswegen beim Schnorcheln ein Stingeranzug empfohlen ist. Doch kurzes eintauchen scheint kein Problem zu sein, jedenfalls machen es die meisten Leute hier.

Ich besuche die Chinatown, den Fischmarkt und treffe mich nochmal mit Julia in die Stadt zu einem Museumsbesuch.

 …..ist das Kunst oder kann das weg?

Der kommende Tag scheint etwas Regen zu bringen, ich hab mir vorgenommen zu den Blue Mountains zu fahren. Mit dem Zug 2 Stunden Fahrt ist für Australier eine kurze Strecke. Bei Fragen nach dem Weg, ist immer alles ganz nah, kann dann aber schon Mal 20Min. bis halbe Stunde zu laufen sein.

Also ab in die Blue Mountains, Julia wollte gern mitkommen, sie fühlte sich aber nicht so gut. Der Zug fährt sicher noch eine 3/4 Stunde in die Außenbezirke Sydney’s, dann erst wird die Landschaft hügeliger um schließlich in einem kleinen touristischen Ort zu halten. Inzwischen hatte es zu regnen begonnen und hier in den Bergen hatten sich die Wolken zu einem ziemlich dichten Vorhang zusammengezogen. Wanderschuhe und Regenjacke boten zunächst einen recht guten Schutz, bei der Wanderung zu einer Schlucht und einigen Sandsteinfelsen, die die drei Schwestern genannt werden. Bei den drei Schwestern angekommen gibt es einen Treppenwanderweg weit in die tiefe Schlucht. Auf diesen Weg mache ich mich. Doch es regnet immer stärker, die Stufen sind ausgewaschen, uneben, alle verschieden in der Höhe, dann über einem Abgrund freischwebende Metallgestelle. Die Hälfte des Weges hab ich wohl geschafft, doch zu sehen sind leider nur 2 Schwestern und die Tiefe ist nicht abzuschätzen. Der Regen wird wieder stärker als ich mich auf den Rückweg mache. Völlig durchnässt komme ich im Dorf an und mache mich nach einer heißen, feinen Suppe in einem japanischen Restaurant auf den Weg zurück nach Sydney.

 Am Abend sind Nicole und ich noch einmal verabredet. Wir treffen uns, doch ich hab mir wohl eine Erkältung eingefangen, ich fühle mich nicht wohl und sehne mich bald nach meinem warmen Bett.  Schade, dass ich an diesem Abend keine sonderlich unterhaltsame Begleitung bin für Nicole.

Am folgenden Tag Abschied von Sydney, es war eine besondere Zeit, fast ein wenig he
imatlich, denn mit Nicol habe ich deutsch gesprochen, sie hat 13 Jahre in Berlin gelebt.

Flug nach Cairns 3 Std., auf den Inlandflügen darf man sogar zu trinken mitnehmen, denn Jetstar die Billiglinie von Quantas, reicht keine Getränke.

Die Nase läuft, doch weitere Erkältungszeichen stellen sich nicht eingestellt.
